The MSU Pollinator Performance Center serves as a hub of the university's teaching, research and outreach on pollinators and their connection to agricultural systems and the environment.

About

Through a partnership among the Michigan State University Department of EntomologyMSU AgBioResearch and MSU Extension, the Pollinator Performance Center resides on the south side of campus and is MSU's home of pollinator studies, teaching, equipment storage and outreach. Around the facility are 15 acres used for pollinator-related field experiments.

The building will eventually contain a fully operational honey extraction facility and controlled climate rooms for indoor overwintering research. The facility will allow researchers to manage enough colonies to perform field trials and potentially develop a breeding program.

The close proximity of hives to classrooms, research labs and pollinator plantings allows faculty and extension educators to expand their programming and ensure MSU remains at the forefront of honey bee and other pollinator research.
